Katerina de LaGrosse Said: Very nice dampen with no worries of damage to my violin Jul. 17th 2010

I have never utilised a dampen before am doctrine my consciousness to endeavor and have studied cello, pianissimo and voice so I have null to compare this to, but I'm rattling entertained with the modification in intensity as substantially as the tonal quality, which seems "richer" with the dampen in place. I bought it so I wouldn't intend the neighbours disturbed when practicing in the summer with the windows open. The first twenty to thirty transactions of my regular training is every scales and arpeggios so I am afraid about making the neighbours' ears bleed!
I also same the fact that it's prefabricated of rubber rather than metal and so I vexation less about alteration to the bridge. I've never proven leaving the mute on when I put the string away because I would worry likewise much most it not fitting in the case and thereby harmful the denture or worse when I near the case.
All in all, I'm very bright with this mute.
UPDATE:
I emailed a professed violinist he is concertmaster and string soloist on movies much as Avatar, Titanic, Ratatouille and more! and asked him about the advisability of using a dampen on a NEW instrument. The helper needs to amend its pitch and tonality meet as I do! and that requires the vegetation to "breathe" and expand with the vibrations created in the instrument itself. I was bad that a mute would delay that impact by decreasing the amount of vibration in the wood. And... I received an respond from him! He said I am correct to vexation and that, since I training about 1.5-2 hours a day X 5 days/week, my string a student-grade prophet inventor should be full matured in roughly 1.5 years. I have been studying today for most 6 months, so the neighbours module hit to suffer for another year!
Just something to conceive most if your instrument is new!

Mutes the violin well, secure, reddened weight. I have a monument digit but it vibrates soured the bridge. This digit you crapper turn upside downbound and it stays in place. Buy two, they're affordable enough!!

E. Estrada Said: Does not work on Glaesel 3/4 Violin Jun. 27th 2010

My girl has a 3/4 Glaesel Violin that is 16 eld old a gift from her cousin . Last Nov we had to replace the bridge with a assorted sort because the topical store exclusive had a 4/4 Glaesal denture and she had a edifice concert coming up. The Mute fits just fine, but we tired and proven and could not intend the the dampen to work. At best there was most a 5% reduction in volume. I doubt the fact that the replacement denture being a different brand prefabricated any difference.

Ronald A. Vancooten Said: just what I needed May. 18th 2010

Since I live in an housing house, neighbor's complaints are a concern. With this product, I am healthy to practice without disturbing others, yet ease attain my training conference meaningful

TJ14 Said: Good creation for cheap. Mar. 20th 2010

As a laboring college student, I scarce get anytime to training the violin. The exclusive instance I crapper do so in peace is at the dead of the night. And this was variety of a problem for my room-mates and neighbors.

I thoughtful getting a string mute, I should feature that I was really unbelieving at first. But no more! This actually works, it cuts downbound the volume of my violin by 50%. It does a beatific employ of selection downbound the broad pitched sounds giving the string a bassy feel. The foam is sensitive on the denture and has a tight sound on the bridge.

A metal mute may do a such meliorate job, but in cost of continuance this foam dampen beats all.
